Stok kangri is one of the peak which is gaining tremendous popularity in last few years due to its non technical nature. The first ascend to this peak was made in year 1951. Stok range is the parent range of this peak. Stok kangri stands highest amongst all in its range. The climb to stok kangri requires good amount of stamina, both physically and mentally. The trek starts from village called stok which is 15km in distance from leh. The view in between of trek is just tremendous which will fulfill your desires in every aspects. From the top of peak many major peaks can be seen like K2, K6, Saltoro kangri and rimo1 etc. To climb stok Kangri you need a experience of any high altitude trek. Best time to do this peak is in between September to November.

Brief Itinerary

DAY 1- Flight to leh

Enjoy the view before the touchdown. You will see snow-capped peaks around the leh airport.

The leh airport is known as one of the most beautiful airport in India. Iy is important to have warm clothes handy at airport . Transportation is provided from airport to guest house.

DAY 2- Acclimatization day

The biggest threat to any trekker is (AMS) acute mountain sickness, to avoid that you have to acclimatize in leh by taking a day off. This step is very important and recommend to every trekker. In meantime enjoy the walk in the market and go for sightseeing in the evening. The main motive of the day is to increase the intake of water in your body.

DAY 3- Leh to Chang ma via stok village

The day starts with the drive from leh city to stok village. This will be 15km drive. The trek starts from stok village which itself is the last village during the trek. The stok village lies to the south of leh. The recently crowned king of Ladakh lives here. You will find the museum inside the palace which has the beautiful architecture. Chang ma is 6km from stok village. You will face gradual ascend from stok village till the campsite.

Distance-6km trek and 15km drive
Trek Time- 3 hours
Altitude- (13,087 ft)

DAY 4- Chang ma to Mankorma

Reaching mankorma can be quite easier. You will face easy ascend throughout the way. You will be walking through many small streams. The day will show you the real beauty of Ladakh region.

Distance- 3.5km
Trek Time- 2 hours
Altitude- 14,100ft

DAY 5- Mankorma to base camp

Base camp is surrounded by lush green grass and number of water bodies around it. You will not face much difficulties in reaching base camp. The trail has easy ascend through the way. You will reach base camp before the lunch. After the lunch you will enjoy the sightseeing around the campsite. Gulab kangri and Parcha kangri can be seen from base camp itself. This is the place where you may face extreme cold climate and thin air

Trek time- 3 hours
Altitude- 16,100ft

DAY 6- Training day

This is one of the most crucial day amongst all. You will acclimatize at the base camp. Further the team of Devadars will guide you through technical equipments and assist you about the next days terrain. These seasons will power your confidence and will make things easier next day. Adjusting your body and getting use of thin air will be the main motive of the day.

day 7- Base camp to Summit & back to Base camp

This will be the most crucial and fascinating day of your life. The trek will start early in the night. The trek will go through glaciers and steep slopes. This will be the longest walk. Estimated time for the experienced climber can be in between of 8-10 hours for the summit push. In the end once you will reach summit, it will be worth of coming so far. From the summit you will see Karakorum range and Zanskar range towards the south. After spending some time on summit you will descend down to base camp.

Trek time- 14 hours
Altitude- 20,180ft

day 8 - Base camp to Leh

You will take the same route to descend down till stok village. Transportation will be be provided from stok village to leh

Distance - 13km
Trek time - 5hours
Altitude - (16,100ft)

Base camp ( 16,100ft) to stok village & drive to leh (13km trek & 15km drive)
